Dr. Soordhar at Oasis Dental (Milton, ON) requires two to three appointments typically to fully install crowns and bridges. We devote the first visit to preparing your teeth based on molds of your mouth and placing protective temporary crowns to protect your teeth until we install your custom restorations.
The anesthesia will temporarily numb your lips, tongue, and palate. We strongly advise not drinking hot beverages or eating until the numbness wears off completely.
In the event a temporary crown detaches, call us right away at (905) 8762747 to set a time when you can bring the restoration with you so we can recement it. Keeping this piece in place will prevent other teeth from compromising your final restoration’s fit by moving around.
Avoiding eating sticky or hard foods (i.e., gum) and chewing on the opposite side of your mouth when possible will keep your temporaries securely in place. Brushing normally is a “must” but when flossing, be careful not to dislodge the temporary by pulling upward on the floss. Instead, pull it out from crown’s side.
It is normal to experience some temperature and pressure sensitivity after each appointment. The sensitivity should subside a few weeks after the placement of the final restoration. Mild pain medications may also be used as directed by our office.
If your bite feels uneven, if you have persistent pain, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please call our office right away.
