WHAT ARE DENTAL CROWNS?
Dental Crowns can be made from:
~ Porcelain only (Full Porcelain Crown) ~
~ Porcelain and Metal (Porcelain Fused to Metal) ~
~ Metal only (Full Gold Crown) ~
Dental Crowns can help correct imperfections in your smile and protect your teeth such as discoloration, tetracycline staining, twisted, crooked, spaced, cracked, broken, root canal treated, decayed teeth or Dental Implants.
A single crown can fix a single damaged or misaligned tooth.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF CROWNS
There are numerous crown systems and each has its own unique characteristics. Each system has its own requirements on how your natural teeth or dental implant are prepared for the crown.
The different types of crown material are:
Full Porcelain Crown
Porcelain Fused to Metal
Full Gold Crown
Zirconia Crown (BruxZir)
Emax Crown (Lithium Disilicate)
Preparing & Building up the Tooth
A dental crown is completed in 2 appointments and a Smile Makeover will take several appointments.
The first appointment, Dr. Soordhar knows how much to reduce the tooth to allow for a strong crown to be made and protect the remaining tooth structure. Typically 2 mm is reduced to allow for a strong crown to be fabricated. A root canal or a filling may be required to build up the tooth.
