OPTIONS TO REPLACE MISSING TEETH

There are a number of different options to replace missing teeth from a temporary to a long-lasting solution.

WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

A dental implant medical-grade titanium structure that is used to replace the root of a tooth that has been removed or is missing. A dental implant works by fusing with the jaw bone (aka. osseointegration).

A dental implant is made of 3 different parts:

  1. Dental Implant (goes in the bone)

  2. Implant Abutment (attaches to the dental implant)

  3. Implant tooth (attaches to the implant abutment)

With dental implants, you can get your smile back, eat, and drink just as with normal teeth.  Book your FREE CONSULTATION today.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE

1. SMILE DESIGN

Smile Design Treatment Planning is the key to a successful esthetic implant result which includes Dental Models, Digital Pictures, Smile Design, and 3D Imaging (Dental CBCT).

2. IMPLANT SURGERY

The dental implant (like a screw) is inserted within the jawbone and replaces the missing tooth or teeth by supporting a dental implant crown, implant bridge, a removable implant denture or a fixed implant denture (All-on-4, All-on-6).

After placing the dental implant, the bone heals and fuses to the dental implant which will then support the artificial teeth.

3. MOLD FOR TEETH

Once the bone has healed around the implant molds (dental impressions) are taken to allow the missing tooth or missing teeth to be fabricated by the dental technician laboratory.  At this stage, the exact shape and color of the teeth are finalized.

  • Implant tooth crown

  • Implant bridge

  • All-on-4 / All-on-6 / Teeth in a Day

  • Implant denture (Snap-on Denture)

5. IMPLANT TEETH INSERTED

The dental implant tooth, teeth or denture are attached to the dental implant(s) to restore the bite, smile, and function.

Dental implant teeth can be screw retained or cemented to the dental implant abutments.

DENTAL BRIDGE VS. IMPLANT

DENTAL TOOTH BRIDGE

is bonded directly to the teeth beside the space. The false tooth (pontic) replaces the missing tooth and the crowns that are attached to the pontic to form the bridge are cemented onto the natural teeth (abutment teeth).

DENTAL IMPLANT BRIDGE

does not involve any shaving down teeth versus a DENTAL BRIDGE teeth are shaved down to hold the bridge in place.

COMPLETE DENTURE VS. IMPLANT DENTURE

COMPLETE DENTURES

are fabricated from plastic, porcelain, or the two materials combined to fit over endodontically treated teeth and, when necessary for a more secure fit, existing dental appliances and implants.

IMPLANT DENTURES

(All on 4) hold the denture securely so it doesn't move around versus a COMPLETE DENTURE which moves when eating, chewing, talking, and swallowing.

PARTIAL DENTURE VS. DENTAL IMPLANTS

PARTIAL DENTURES

replace one or several missing teeth by attaching to surrounding teeth with small metal clasps. The artificial gums are fashioned from acrylic and attach to acrylic or metal bases that support either porcelain or acrylic teeth.

WHY REPLACE TEETH WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS?

There as several reasons to selecting dental implants a dental bridge, partial denture or complete denture.

  • A dental bridge requires sacrificing good tooth structure by grinding down the teeth to bridge the space of the missing tooth/teeth

  • A partial or complete denture removal at night may be inconvenient, and they move and slip when eating, drinking or talking.
